New Metal Band in the Vein of Pantera,Metallica, Lamb of God
SAME VEIN BIO
In fall of 2009, Stonebreed drummer Mike Gray decided he was done with the southern rock group and parted ways. Meanwhile, Pantera tribute band Domination 101 would go on indefinite hiatus due to the guitarist recovering from surgery, leaving vocalist Aaron H searching for an original act to join. After a few failed attempts, the frustrated vocalist placed one last ad on craigslist looking for anyone who wanted to jam on some original metal material. After checking out videos on Domination 101’s website, Mike contacted Aaron and sent him some demos from his old project Revelation Inc and the two met up shortly afterwards. It became quickly apparent that the two shared a love of metal music, both new and old school and that collaboration would yield a uniquely heavy result.
In spring of 2010, Aaron set about writing songs with the idea of ‘if I had written those great songs I love, what would I might have done differently’. Once Mike heard the demos he knew they were onto something good, and Same Vein existed from that point. The music being written was laced with echoes of Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Disturbed, BLS, Machinehead and numerous heavy influences that all flowed into the same vein of aggressive, melodic and groove-laden metal. Modeling his vocals on techniques he learned for the Pantera tribute band, Aaron channeled his pent up frustration into song lyrics touching on media corruption, consumerism, self-image issues and just wanting to leave daily bullshit behind and get out of town.
The band began with weekly jam sessions between Mike and Aaron, but they soon began the search for a bassist and lead guitarist. From the large LA tribute band scene, Aaron recruited bassist Shannon Bizzy from the White Zombie band House of Zombie. After a few practices, Shannon introduced shredder Eric Franklin to the group and Same Vein attempted to record their first single ‘ Riding Shotgun’. Bizzy was offered a spot playing with Mandy Lion and parted ways while Eric stayed and honed his chops to record the solos for Same Vein’s EP ‘God’s Violence’. With the bass position empty, Aaron reached out again to Mike C from Domination 101 and asked if he’d be interested. Having listened to the Same Vein music previously, Mike C was all in immediately. Things were looking good in rehearsal and Eric had just laid down ripping solos for the EP, but due to other commitments and passions, Eric and the band amicably parted ways in late summer of 2012. Enter Nathan Siegel, former band mate with Mike Gray in the Militants. With a work ethic as superb as his fretboard skills, Nathan quickly fit into the rhythm and momentum Same Vein had been building for the past 2 years. With the EP titled “God’s Violence” near completion and with a solid lineup of metal veined soldiers, Same Vein is ready to break up into the LA metal scene in 2013!
