Formed in 2008, Man of Kin was Jaz Oberoi’s (Zocalo, MoonRabbit, Silverbox’s Ex Drummer) project aimed towards his personal wish to take up vocals. The Band’s name was chosen as a play on the word “Mannequin”. The Orginal idea was to play start a prog-rock (e.g Tool) style band, but as Oberoi nocited, his natural vocals were too heavy for this style of music and in addition to this, his powerful screams were the true sign for a heavier style.

Man Of Kin had the same beginning as many other bands with performances on small stages and in small bars, as well as poorly structured tours. As the band got noticed, they started performing at better venues, accompanied with huge names on the scene. It didn’t take long for Man Of Kin to establish themselves at the forefront of the London metal scene. At this point, Man Of Kin recorded their first EP using an experimental line-up but with Jaz’s dedication to match the songs to his vocals anthems like “Primitive”, “Territory” and “Don’t Let The Bastards Grind Us Down” were born. As a standout headliner in London, Man Of Kin began to spread their wings throughout the UK, touring all over the land to consolidate their name, music and everything else.

By this time, Rob Halliday (Drums), Carl Stanley (Bass) and Jon Coakley (Rhythm Guitar) became permanent members of Man Of Kin with Jaz impressed by their attitude and ability. There was still a need for a better lead guitarist which led Jaz to discover Aaron Waddingham (Ex-KyrbGrinder) during a tour where Man Of Kin supported Kyrbgrinder. Now it was only a matter of time before Waddingham joined Man Of Kin as it was obvious he was the perfect guy for the job during the 2 week tour.

Now Man Of Kin has headlined some of the biggest venues in the UK, and their feedback has been great with enthusiastic reviews which has led the band to tour the UK even further. In May 2010, Man of Kin released their album “And So It Begins” as an ironic twist on what happened in their past, so that now the band is finally ready to introduce their work to the masses.
