Final Hour are one of the finest up and coming local bands in the metal/thrash genre. Forming in 2005, they gigged around the North East, spreading their raw sound across Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham. After a brief spell on the sidelines, the band reformed in 2008 with a new and improved line-up. After spending months trying to find a new singer Chris took over the role as lead vocalist along with playing rhythm guitar.
The new line-up combined the tight, compact rhythms of old with a new, harder, more aggressive sound.
With the new line-up in place the band landed a practise slot with the Sunderland music project based at the Washington Arts Centre, since then they have been heavily involved with the project, recording two songs at their studio in the summer of 09 and playing numerous gigs aimed at raising money to support the project.
The new-found power bought them slots with bands such as Starblind, The Dangerous Nuns, The Liberty Roses and Farwell Atlantis. The band also got creative in the practise room and put their talents to use, writing up the blueprints to their first EP entitled, Corruption in the Eyes Above, which was released in April to a warm reception.
Over the summer the band played some notable events, Chester-le-street’s first out-door festival for local bands and they also played a metal all-dayer at Legends, in Newcastle, and another metal evening at the Dog and Parrot. Final Hour were well received at all three events.
