Formed in 2003, Drauggard ("Domain of the Undead" in ancient Icelandic) appeared to be the first band of local Nizhny Novgorod metal scene to perform raw, fast and evil black metal with some Immortal influences. Even then their shows had an unequal response from the audience as the band was either loved or hated and no indifference towards their music took place. Through several releases crowned by "Baldr's Dreams" single and "Nidgedichte" EP consequently released as split with CRIPTUM (IT) by Swedish label Undead Propaganda DRAUGGARD have gained the cult status among local metalheads.
At present DRAUGGARD are recognized among the leading Russian metal bands having the cult status in the underground metal community. The band tours and headlines local concerts on the regular basis.
In spring 2010 Tomasz "Nefastus" Janiszewski of BELPHEGOR (AUT) joined DRAUGGARD to record all drum parts for the upcoming full-length album. Recording took place at STAGE ONE STUDIO (Germany). The album will be produced by Andi Classen and is expected to be released in early 2011.
